How to install SQL 2005

Installing SQL Server 2005

The SQL Server 2005 Installation Wizard is Microsoft Windows Installer-based, and provides a single feature tree for installation of all Microsoft SQL Server 2005 components:
SQL Server Database Engine
Analysis Services
Reporting Services
Notification Services
Integration Services
Management Tools
Documentation and Samples

Note SQL Server 2005 is available in 32-bit and 64-bit editions. The 64-bit editions of SQL Server 2005 are installed using the same methods as the 32-bit editions: through the Installation Wizard, or via the command prompt. For more information on SQL Server 2005 components, see Editions and Components of SQL Server 2005. Regardless of whether you use the SQL Server 2005 Installation Wizard or the command prompt to install SQL Server 2005, the Setup process involves the following steps.

Step 1: Prepare Your Computer to Install SQL Server 2005

To prepare your computer for SQL Server 2005, review hardware and software requirements, System Configuration Checker requirements and blocking issues, and security considerations.
